At last, a book about Rosslyn that offers new research and information! I have read most of the big titles available on Rosslyn and the Knights Templar and get annoyed as most books churn out the same information. I enjoyed reading this book because the author presents fresh research and he actually debunks the most common ideas about Rosslyn and the Templars explaining clearly how modern authors twist history to suit their predetermined conclusions. I found the writing style easy to read and although it has an academic slant, he makes quite complicated subjects simple to understand. Most of all, I enjoyed the photography as the images really helped me interact with the story. I’m quite shocked that the painting he studies in his book has not been analyzed and written about before now. I imagine a fleet of books will now appear about this painting; I hope so, as it really is quite an entrapping subject. My biggest criticism of the book is that the author quite obviously holds back information in certain areas about the Templar degree, but being a Freemason / Templar or whatever he is, he probably has obligations and restrictions.

Hi Ash, we will come and see you talking in Orkney next year. Got the book and found it fascinating! Did you notice the 'Knights Iron Helmet' and shield'??? St Bernard would have been proud!

I think I've seen something in the painting thats not in the book. Above the skull is a sort of mini shrine thing. Has this feature anything to do with the Templar degree?

I liked the info about the skull. Good old Simon would have been proud.

Hi Ashley
Not read this book yet- although anticipating a thrilling read!
Just one question please.
Are YOU saying that these symbols are to be interpretted in the Christian way.
If pre-Christian symbols were adopted by the Christian faith and adapted to suit- (perhaps to cunningly divert attention from original meanings)-
Does that make these symbols truly Christian?
How can one tell that they are NOT there to indicate back to the original meanings- perhaps leading to reveal the mysteries that existed prior to the arrival of Christianity in this country?
Perhaps crafted with hands of Christian faith and instructed to do so in that manner- is that honestly the depth of knowledge we are to draw our conclusions from?
What about the Matrix?

Curiouser and curiouser
